Information Cycle

A guide about the Information Cycle and how to search for news

Week After the Event

After a week, magazine articles will start to be published about the event. Editorials and more opinion-based pieces will start to appear (with various bias) in online forms, as well as in print newspapers and magazines.

Some analysis pieces may be published in both news and magazines as well.

How/Where to Search

To find coverage from a week after the event through the library, you can limit the search in one of our databases to just that week date range (usually under advanced search).

Gale General OneFile is a really good database to search. Under the advanced search, you can easily limit to sources from a week after the event (see example below for a search of the Notre Dame Fire that occurred April 15, 2019).
