Loanable Technology

 

The Black Hawk College Library has a variety of technology and equipment that can be borrowed. These items are located in the Course Reserves collection and can be checked out at the circulation desk. Please read below for more information regarding available items, eligibility, and lending policies.

Lending Policies

 

Eligibility

Black Hawk College students, faculty, and staff with library accounts in good standing may borrow loanable technology. Borrowers with delinquent accounts are not permitted to borrow from the collection.

 

Loan Periods

Equipment will check-out for 2 hours for items designated on-campus use only and 3 days for items that may leave campus. Equipment is first-come, first-serve and no reservations.

 

Returning equipment

Equipment must be returned to a staff member at the circulation desk. Do not return equipment to the book drop. Equipment will not be removed from the borrower’s account until items are inspected and all pieces accounted for.

 

Overdue Fines and Replacement Costs

It is the borrower’s responsibility to return library materials on time. If equipment is overdue, damaged or lost, the following fines and fees will be charged:

  • 2-hour loans = $1 per hour overdue
  • 3-day loans = $5 per day overdue
  • Lost items = replacement cost 
  • Damage = assessed according to extent of damage

The borrower is responsible for full replacement costs if the equipment is stolen, damaged, or lost during the checkout period. Failure to pay overdue fines, repairs, replacement costs or any other charges will result in a suspension of the borrower’s library card and a may include a hold on the borrower’s BHC student account.

 

Appropriate Use of Devices

Personal files will be removed from device upon return to library. The library is not responsible for lost files.

Borrowers must use equipment in compliance with the Computer Security and Responsible Use Policy found in the Black Hawk College Board Policy Manual Section 8.9.
