How do I checkout/renew materials?
Most books are loaned for 2 weeks. Reserve items are placed on reserve by faculty for their classes for overnight checkout or in library use only. Reference materials may be checked out for overnight use. Magazines (except for those in clear covers) may be checked out for one week. You can renew materials by calling the circulation desk at 854-1730, emailing at sodtj@bhc.edu, or online.
How do I borrow a book from a different library?
Interlibrary loan (ILL) service expands the resources available to students and faculty at Black Hawk College. We can request books and copies of periodical articles for no cost from any Alliance Library System member as well as any Prairie Area Library system member. ILL return dates are set by the lending library; one renewal may be requested but it is subject to the lender’s approval. Please allow at least 1 week for ILLs to arrive at East Campus.
A bar-coded Alliance Library System card is required for any patron to borrow LRC library materials or request interlibrary loans from other libraries.
